Community Institute An independent Canadian centre for creative facilitation, training and development in the field of community living. "Community living means more than just putting people and services into the 'stage setting' of the community; it means helping the community come alive for people who have been excluded because of disabilities or other challenges. Family and caregiver training, personal futures planning, community development and innovative service development are some of the practical measures that bring the ideals to life." Microboards  David Wetherow is the originator of this new way of providing support and method to receive direct government funding using a nonprofit/support group actually existing in Canada and several places in the United States.
The Oaks Group website  The Californian father who maintains this web site has advocated for years for services to be delivered in the "most integrated setting" in the community.  His advocacy efforts have resulted in a tremendous difference in how services are delivered in California.  His web site gives perspective on why "the most integrated setting" is so important, what is being done to increase these settings, and what you can do to advocate for them.
The Center on Human Policy (CHP)  is a Syracuse University based policy, research, and advocacy organization involved in the national movement to insure the rights of people with disabilities. Since its founding, the Center has been involved in the study and promotion of open settings (inclusive community opportunities) for people with disabilities.
